About Us
God has called us to passionately serve the world’s forgotten children through life-changing ministries.
About Us
Who We Are
We are the voice of the forgotten children in Guatemala. Caring for the children of Dorie’s Promise is our passion. Forever Changed International (FCI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Camas, Washington. FCI owns and operates Dorie’s Promise Orphan Care Home located in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Our Team
Our Guatemala-based team cares for the children residing at Dorie’s Promise, while our US-based team manages the administrative and fundraising functions of our organization. Together, our gifts create the home our children need. We share one mission—to provide the best care possible for every child who enters our home.
Our History
Unaware of what she was about to experience, Our Founder, Heather Radu left home at the age of 18 to begin studying abroad in Europe. During a side trip to Romania, she made her first visit to an orphanage. Seeing the suffering children of that war-torn country changed her. Rows of cribs held infants who cried incessantly for someone to hold them.
Meet our Amazing Team!
Heather Radu
Founder, Board Member, Executive Director
Heather is the force behind Forever Changed International. As a young woman visiting orphanages in Eastern Europe, she knew there must be a better way. Decades later, she still believes all children deserve a loving family and is determined to provide our children with opportunities. In her spare time, you can find Heather enjoying the beautiful outdoors of the Pacific Northwest with her family.
Alejandra Diaz
Director, Dorie’s Promise Guatemala
Alejandra is the heart of Dorie’s Promise. Many years ago while accompanying a confused and frightened young girl to court, she instinctively knelt down and hugged the child. Immediately, the little girl hugged her back. This is Alejandra. She is the embodiment of someone who leads by faith through love. Alejandra enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, reading, and helping her church.
Naomi Beazely
Missions Director
Naomi is the energy behind our mission trips. Combining her detail-oriented personality, love for children, and fun spirit, she coordinates our visiting teams. She’s a firm believer that Guatemala doesn’t become real until you experience it. In her spare time, you’ll find Naomi enjoying the outdoors with her husband and two sons or taking in a Portland Trail Blazers game.
Kelly Shank
Marketing & Development Director
Kelly is the one who connects us. She bridges the gap between Guatemalan stories the world needs to hear and those who have a heart to help. Her first trip to Dorie’s Promise in 2011 quickly led to more in increasing frequency. She strives to connect us to the great work God is already at home and abroad. In her spare time, Kelly enjoys hanging out with her husband and 3 kids on their family farm.
Dr. Francisco Castro
Physician
Having dedicated his career to Pediatrics, Doc now focuses on caring for the most vulnerable who do not have access to medical care. Our children are blessed by his loving care. In additional to his work at Dorie’s Promise, he also helps provide medical care in several rural villages and is our coffee guy. If you meet him, he’ll be sure to tell you about his coffee—it’s the second best in the world!
Ana Maria Davila
Psychologist
For more than a decade, Ana Maria has focused on mental lovingly cares for our children’s mental and emotional health. Day by day, she is always amazed by the healing she witnesses and the resilience embedded in their spirit. For more than a decade, her efforts have focused on mental health resources for children. Away from Dorie’s Promise, she also provides care in rural Mayan communities. In her spare time, you’ll find her reading, writing, or playing tennis with her husband.
Selvyn Dieguez
Administrator
Selvyn brings decades of experience in accounting and project management to Dorie’s Promise. The strong foundation he provides to our home administratively allows our staff to focus on meeting the needs of our children. Beyond his work duties, Selvyn has taken on the role of mentor to many of our children and intentionally sets aside time daily to build deep relationships with them. We’re thankful for his willingness to follow God’s leading to work at Dorie’s Promise. When not working, Selvyn enjoys spending time with his family, playing music, sports of kinds, and reading.
Board Members
Barb Quinn
Board Member
During the 1990s, Barb and her husband Tom adopted three children with the help of Heather Radu. Since the beginning, Barb has been a supporter of FCI and continues to help guide our work today as a board member. She wants people to know that Dorie’s Promise is different. Barb and her husband are happily retired and enjoy splitting their time between Washington and Hawaii.
Cari Burck
Board Member
Being able to spend time with Dorie Van Stone deeply influenced Cari. Dorie’s resiliency and God’s provision during her difficult childhood taught Cari how to love orphans.
