26 May The New Siblings – Progress Report
Four Lives Forever Changed!
It was just a few weeks ago that four homeless little angles arrived at Dorie’s Promise Guatemala. Their names – Ingrid, Ana, Maria, and Abraham.
The day they arrived they were scared. You could see it in their eyes – the fear of the unknown. They all knew they were going to have to adapt to a new home, adults, and other children. What caught our attention first was how these siblings protected each other. Ingrid who is 9 carried her little brother Moises and gave directions to her two little sisters. Ingrid had her guard up and was ready for anything.
Today things have changed. All the children are happy and full of excitement. The girls run around the back
yard and play like all the other children. Abraham is now 5 months old is now laughing out loud and babbling. They have settled in to their surroundings. They know their lives are different – full of peace, joy, and the conviction that they are part of a big family. Thank you for loving these children. Our prayer is that you would keep up on their lives and continue to pray for them.
Ingrid is a very smart girl. She is helpful and loving. Even though she has never been in school before, she has an intense desire to learn. She’s already learning her numbers and letters and will soon be able to read and write. We are thrilled with her progress. She is now eating regularly and is active on the playground with all the kids.
Pray for Ingrid that God will continue to soften her heart.
Ana is a very affectionate helpful little girl. She has adapted to living at Dorie’s Promise very easily and loves to take part in all the activities and play with the other children. She eats everything! We have a hard time getting her away from the dinner table. Her special mothers point to her as an example to the other children in the areas of cleanliness and helpfulness. Right now her favorite activities are painting her finger and toenails and playing with the kitchen play set.
Pray for Ana that God will constantly remind her that He loves her!
Maria loves living at Dorie’s Promise. She takes part in all the activities and has a special gift when it comes to learning and remembering. Her favorite actives are dancing and painting. Her crafts are some of the best I’ve seen for a girl her age. At times Maria is almost inseparable from her sister Ana. Together they are always using the kitchen play set.
Pray for Maria that she will come to a place of trust and knowledge that Dorie’s Promise is her home.
This little boy will make you smile when you see him. He is a very happy little kid. He is always smiling and wanting to move around. He is starting to hold his bottle while he drinks his milk. He also loves juice! He is interacting well with the older children and observes everything going on around him. His favorite thing right now is being tickled.
Pray for Abraham that as he grows into a toddler that he will find safety and security in the arms of his special mothers.
