Faith That Grows in Everyday Moments
At Forever Changed International, we’re grateful for the chance we have each day to share the love and gospel of Jesus with the children in our care.
It doesn’t only happen in big, planned moments. More often, it shows up in the ordinary, quiet conversations, time spent side by side, small acts of care that don’t draw attention to themselves. Those are the moments that stay. Through them, our children are reminded they’re not alone. They’re seen. They’re known. And they’re deeply loved by someone who cares about every part of their lives, Jesus.
You can see it in simple, honest ways. Elizabeth, for example, holds tightly to her illustrated Bible. She flips through its pages again and again. Other children notice. They sit beside her, curious, and soon they’re turning pages too. No one’s forcing it. It’s just happening, one child’s love for God quietly inviting others in. We don’t take this lightly. It’s a responsibility, yes, but it’s also a gift.
Walking alongside these children, helping them understand who God is in a way that feels real and personal, is one of the most meaningful parts of what we do. Jenny, our Child Development Assistant, plays a big role in that. She prepares devotions with care, making space for the children to learn, ask questions, and grow in their faith. She also stays closely connected with the church our teenagers attend, helping build a bridge between our home and a wider community of support.
For our teens, that connection matters. Having a place to belong, to show up, be known, and grow with others their age, has been especially meaningful for Nayelli, Marta, Jireh, and Abraham. Those over 15 attend on Saturdays, and the younger ones, like Ximena and Josué, are already looking forward to the day they can join. We make sure they get there and back safely, but more than that, we trust they’re walking into a space where they’re welcomed and cared for. The love they’ve received there has meant more than we can put into words.
And it doesn’t stop with them. Alejandra, our director, shared something that’s been happening:
“Our moms have been asking about the church the teens are attending, and several have started going as well. There’s no doubt that God’s Word is reaching them and doing its work. Many of them have walked through difficult situations, and it’s meaningful to see how, on a personal level, they’re feeling that desire, not just as part of their job, but on their own time, choosing to seek God.”
This is what we’re witnessing in our home, something God is doing, quietly, steadily, deeply. And we know we’re not alone in it. Your prayers are part of this story. We see their impact here in Guatemala, in the lives of our children, our teens, and our staff. Thank you for holding us in prayer and walking alongside us. It truly matters.
As more children join our home, the need continues to grow. We’ll always need prayer, but we also need people willing to step in and walk closely with a child.
If you’d like to get involved, consider sponsoring a child. It’s a simple, meaningful way to be present in their life, to remind them they’re seen, cared for, and not alone.
