In May we celebrated 4 special birthday kids at Dorie’s Promise—Dulce, Elvis, Jimena, and Manuel. Here are some fun updates about each child.
🎂 Dulce
What are her favorite games and activities right now? Dulce is so outgoing and loving that she enjoys almost anything with other people. Right now, she loves playing with colorful toys that have lots of texture.
What is her favorite school activity this year? Sensory stimulation has been significant in her personal development. She loves all the activities she does with Miss Jenny.
What is her favorite thing about living at Dorie’s Promise? Her “sisters”! Dulce loves living with so many other girls. Each of the girls has a special bond with Dulce, especially Nayeli.
From our staff, what does she do to make you laugh? Dulce loves to model. For special activities, such as the end of the school year celebration, Dulce received her diploma with style.
🎂 Elvis
What are his favorite games and activities right now? He likes to make bracelets, draw, and paint his favorite characters.
What new things is he learning in school this year? He likes to do experiments in class and learn English.
What is she most proud of about herself? Without hesitation, Elvis said he is most proud of his family (Yohana and Alex).
What does he want to be when he grows up? When he grows up, Elvis would love to be a cop or maybe a secret agent. (don’t tell!)
From our staff, what does she do to make you laugh? Elvis always tells jokes and says funny things. He’s hilarious.
🎂 Jimena
What are her favorite games and activities right now? Jimena likes to have new experiences. She likes to cook, dance, and play with dolls with younger girls (although she doesn’t want to admit it).
What is her favorite school activity this year? She enjoys new school activities like cooking. Last week we made cookies with her.
What is her favorite thing about living at Dorie’s Promise? She likes having lots of big “sisters” and having fun with them.
From our staff, what does she do to make you laugh? Jimena has an incredible personality. One afternoon while they were playing in the garden, Jimena and Marta decided to do a concert for the younger girls and special moms. The girls improvised their musical instruments and we all enjoyed their show.
🎂 Manuel
What is his favorite school activity this year? He enjoys experiments and special school activities like cooking.
What new things is he learning in school this year? Manuel is already a skilled artist but he’s trying to learn even more about painting and drawing.
What does he want to be when he grows up? Manuel wants to be a doctor or firefighter when he grows up because he likes to help people.
From our staff, what does she do to make you laugh? Manuel is a very witty boy and the soul of the parties. On several occasions, he has been interviewed by television channels to promote adoption and his personality has stolen the hearts of many people.
