Celebrating the Joy of Reading

Celebrating the Joy of Reading

Last week, Dr. Seuss Day was celebrated around the world, reminding us of the joy that stories and imagination bring to children everywhere.

Our children love spending time together reading, sharing books, and discovering new stories. When we asked Elizabeth what her favorite Dr. Seuss book is, she quickly said Green Eggs and Ham! Just like the story encourages trying something new, Elizabeth’s journey has also been one of courage, perseverance, and new opportunities.

Elizabeth has been with us since her first year of life. As she grew older, we began to notice some developmental delays. We prayed for her and looked for opportunities that could support her learning and growth. After a long process and a lot of prayer, Elizabeth was accepted into the Neurological Institute of Guatemala. There, she has been receiving specialized education and therapies that are helping her development.

Today, Elizabeth is 10 years old. She is a happy and social girl who loves spending time with other children. Seeing her smile, learn, and continue growing reminds us that every child’s journey is unique, and full of possibility.

Moments like these are made possible by the amazing dedication of our teachers and house moms, who encourage a love of reading every day. Their care and patience help create a space where children feel safe to learn, explore, and dream.

Because of your support, our children have the opportunity to grow their imagination and discover the joy of books. And who knows? Maybe one of those dreams will grow into something extraordinary.
