After more than two decades at Dorie’s Promise, Brayan has taken a monumental step—he’s moved out to begin living independently! At 25 years old, Brayan is ready to start the next phase of his life, and we couldn’t be prouder of the young man he has become. His journey from a small, curious toddler to a responsible, hardworking adult has been nothing short of remarkable.

Watching Brayan grow up in our home has been a gift. He’s been a big brother figure to many of the younger children, always ready with a smile or a helping hand. Over the years, he has shown perseverance, patience, and strength in moments of uncertainty. Now, as he embraces adulthood, those same qualities are guiding him into this exciting new season of life.

A Meaningful Send-Off

Before Brayan moved out, we hosted a special goodbye party to celebrate this milestone. Surrounded by children and staff who love him dearly, Brayan was honored for the incredible person he has become. The kids shared memories, laughter, and plenty of hugs. It was a time filled with emotion—tears and joy—as everyone reflected on how much he means to our home.

This celebration gave our children the opportunity to say goodbye in a healthy, supportive way. It also helped them see that growing up and stepping into independence is something to look forward to. Brayan’s story is now part of their story—a beautiful example of what it looks like to be prepared, supported, and loved as you take on new challenges.

Mentorship and Continued Support

Brayan isn’t taking this step alone. He is now living with one of our trusted staff members, who will serve as his mentor and guide during this transition. This living arrangement gives him a chance to practice independence in a safe and supportive environment. He continues to work at a local hardware store, a job that not only helps him cover his expenses but also builds his confidence and skills.

Behind the scenes, our team—especially Javier, our psychologist—has been walking alongside Brayan to make sure he is emotionally and mentally prepared. They’ve created practical plans to manage anxiety, build healthy routines, and maintain financial stability. Every step is part of a larger life plan designed to help Brayan thrive as an independent adult, while still being connected to a caring community.

Still Part of the Family

Even though Brayan has moved out, he’s not far away—and certainly not out of our lives. He continues to visit Dorie’s Promise regularly, especially on Sundays when he joins the children for church. These visits are cherished by everyone and show how deeply rooted his connection to our home truly is.

The younger children light up when Brayan walks through the door, and his presence reminds them that the bonds we form here last a lifetime. While the day-to-day routines may look different now, the relationships remain strong. Brayan’s continued involvement brings comfort and joy to our home and shows that family isn’t defined by walls—it’s defined by love.

Looking Ahead with Pride

As Brayan steps into this new phase of life, we feel nothing but pride. He has worked hard to reach this point, and every challenge he’s overcome has shaped him into the man he is today.
