1990's

The story of Forever Changed International begins with our founder, Heather Radu. At just 18 years old, while studying abroad in Europe, Heather took a life-changing side trip to Romania. There, in a government-run orphanage, she encountered rows of cribs filled with crying infants—unattended, unloved, and overwhelmed by neglect. The smell, the silence of overworked staff, and the desperation in the children’s eyes left an indelible mark on her heart.

In that moment, her purpose became clear:
“If I can make a difference, why wouldn’t I?”

That first visit led Heather’s family to adopt her younger sister, Hannah, from Romania—planting the seed for what would become a lifelong mission. When asked by a reporter, “Would you help other people do this?” her answer was a resounding yes.

Heather went on to co-found All God’s Children International with her parents, Ron and Jan Beazely. Together, they built an adoption and orphan care ministry that helped unite more than 3,000 children with loving families. Throughout the 1990s, Heather traveled across Romania and Bulgaria, developing programs and advocating for the care of vulnerable children.

2000's

In June 2000, Heather traveled to Guatemala City to establish an international adoption program. At the time, thousands of Guatemalan children were being united with families in the United States each year. But Heather saw a deeper opportunity—something she had long hoped to do during her years in Eastern Europe: open a private orphan care home.

That dream became reality with the founding of Dorie’s Promise. Over the next several years, more than 400 children called Dorie’s Promise home before joining their forever families across the U.S.

When international adoptions in Guatemala abruptly closed in 2008, Dorie’s Promise lost its primary source of funding. Determined to continue the work, Heather founded Forever Changed International in 2009 as an orphan care ministry dedicated to providing long-term, holistic care at Dorie’s Promise.

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, donors, and mission teams, the home has continued to thrive—meeting the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of Guatemala’s most vulnerable children.

2010 - Present

Over the past two decades, we’ve witnessed incredible transformation. What was once a home filled with cribs is now a vibrant space where children and teenagers are growing, learning, and stepping confidently into adulthood.

As our children have grown, so has our team. We’ve added a homeschool program and expanded our on-site psychology department to support them through the academic and emotional challenges of adolescence. Our commitment remains the same: to help every child reach their full potential.

Heather’s original vision—a home where children are deeply loved, supported, and equipped to thrive—is becoming reality. In 2016, we celebrated a milestone as our first child graduated high school and entered college in the United States. Two decades ago, that moment felt unimaginable. Today, we rejoice as we watch her grow into the woman she was created to be.

Through it all, God has faithfully provided, meeting our needs without debt and guiding our path forward. We dream of a future caring for children and Dorie’s Promise and supporting young adults as they launch into the world. Our hearts are ready for more.

With continued support from faithful donors and sponsors, we believe that one day all of our children will be fully sponsored and our homes fully owned. Until then, we move forward in faith, trusting God’s perfect plan for each of the amazing children in our care.
